Job Description:

Position Summary:
The Sr. VoIP Technician will lead the overall design and management of the Network Operations department’s VoIP, Internet, and telephony systems and network elements. This position supports the platforms that generate revenue for the debit card and wholesale business unit products. Key functions include daily quality monitoring, troubleshooting issues, acting as a technical advisor to Tier I-III department personnel and vendors, interaction with management on key projects, and supporting the procurement and deployment of platform components. This position reports to the Director of VoIP Engineering.

Responsibilities:
•Designs, configures, sets up, analyzes, and maintains an organization's VoIP, internet, and telephony systems and network elements
•Maintains all systems, applications, security, and network configurations
•Monitors and maintains daily service functions and quality levels for the network and equipment
•Tests and evaluates network and systems to eliminate problems and make improvements
•Resolves problems with quality by trouble shooting (IP / layer 3)
•Troubleshoots network performance issues
•Acts as key escalation point for VoIP-platform related issues.
•Creates and maintains a disaster recovery plan
•Ensures uninterrupted access to all services
•Supports the purchase and provisioning of internet communications and equipment
•May research and recommend vendors
•Reports on system specifications to support upgrades, to ensure proper integration and coordinates schedules with internal or external parties
•May lead projects or direct the work of others
•Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
•Reports to a Director of VoIP Engineering or head of unit/department.
•May provide consultation on complex projects, is considered to be a key contributor/specialist, and may offer research support.
•Serves as a technical advisor, trainer, and provides technical support and guidance
•Creates procedural documentation
•Performs a variety of tasks.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
•This management level position requires 3-5 years of hands-on operational experience (configuration & trouble shooting) with VoIP and Internet networks, telephony, and equipment.
•Bachelor’s Degree or 3-5 years of relevant experience.
•The candidate requires knowledge of transmission principles, protocols, network and traffic engineering principles.
•Exceptional intrapersonal and communication skills, and must work well within a team environment.
•Familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
•Displays a wide degree of creativity.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Hands-on experience with VoIP platforms, e.g. Nextone, Nortel CS2K, Cisco.
•Electrical Engineering degree preferred.
•Cisco certified.
