Job Title:  Storage and Virtualization Technical Consultant

Status:  Full-time

Job Location:  New York, NY (with ability of candidate to work remotely)

 

Job Summary:

ShoreGroup is seeking to identify a Storage and Virtualization Technical Consultant to support its Pre-Sales Engineering Practice. Candidates will have progressive experience in working with customers to design and implement complex storage and VMware-based virtualization solutions.

Job Duties:
  • Conduct capacity planning and storage assessments and present results to customers.
  • Work with customers to identify and design Backup, Recovery, Archiving (BURA) and SAN/NAS management solutions specific to EMC and VMware.
  • Assist sales staff with pre-sales engineering support.
  • Document designs and solutions in a clear and concise manner and develop Bill of Materials (BoM) and Statements of Work (SoW).
Knowledge and/or Skill Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years in the data management industry, with storage experience as either a pre/post sales engineer, technical project manager or systems administrator in a large corporation (500+ employees).
  • Experience in the configuration, deployment and support of EMC, DAS, SAN and NAS primary storage solutions.
  • Experience in the configuration, deployment and support of EMC back-up technologies, hardware and software.
  • Experience with complex Microsoft Active Directory deployments/migrations as well as experience with virtualization technologies.
  • Detailed knowledge of multiple operating systems and platform technologies, including Windows and Linux/Unix to install, configure, manage and troubleshoot primary storage and back-up technologies.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of an organization, from end-user to senior management, about both business and IT needs.
  • Experience translating business requirements into functional/technical specifications.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem resolution, and customer management skills.
  • Vendor certifications in the following is preferred and considered a plus:
    • Microsoft Certified Systems Enginieer (MCSE)
    • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
    • SNIA Certification (Storage Professional, Storage Engineer or Storage Architect)
