Essential Functions

Fitch Ratings is seeking an entry level Research Assistant with no more than one year of work experience to provide Data and Systems support for our Public Finance department. This person will be a member of a six person team that provides all non-analytic support to the Public Finance department. This group is responsible for supporting all of the propriety applications within the department.

Under the supervision of senior management, the successful candidate will:
• Troubleshoot and provide systems and data support for Public Finance Analysts
• Run database queries and generate reports
• Input data related to US Public Finance securities and bonds using proprietary applications
• Respond to data inquiries from Investors and/or Fitch Analysts regarding cusips and bonds
• Maintain the integrity and consistency of departmental data while liaising with the IT database team

Ideal candidates should have:
• Basic understanding and ability to run database queries
• Knowledge and exposure to financial systems and underlying databases strongly preferred
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Basic understanding of financial markets, particularly municipal bonds
• Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Strong knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and extensive use of proprietary applications
• Bachelor’s degree required
