Job Summary:
The Solutions Engineer designs and implements innovative biometric identification systems for global customers. This is a subject matter expert who develops systems and provides pre- and post-sales support of all biometric technologies (face, fingerprint and iris recognition). Our projects are very diverse and include national identification systems, commercial application of face recognition and forensic search systems used by law enforcement agencies. You will be building the technological core of these systems.

Working closely with the Engineering, Research, Sales and Professional Services organizations to develop integrated systems, the Solutions Engineer will focus on all aspects of the project, understanding the big picture of customer requirements as well as the design and function of individual software components. The selected candidate will regularly interact with L-1 customers and government and commercial organizations to determine project requirements, invent the solution, develop required code to glue and customize biometric components, and help deploy the system.

Essential Functions:

Assemble biometric systems using available L-1 software technology components.
Customize existing software products and develop software applications as required by customer or internal projects.
Conduct technology presentations and training sessions for customers and partners.
Write technical proposals and other documentation as required in response to customer requests.
Assist partners in deploying L-1 software and hardware.
Travel to customer sites for product demonstrations, gathering implementation requirements and deployment work.
Evaluate speed and accuracy performance of biometric systems by conducting statistical experiments.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
Good textbook understanding of: computer vision, computer graphics, statistics, robotics, digital photography, multimedia and image processing.
Working knowledge of several programming languages including Java and C#, as well as familiarity with Microsoft.NET.
Thorough knowledge of Windows operating system and Microsoft office desktop applications.
Network fundamentals: security, AD/LDAP, TCP/IP.
Experience with database products.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 25%.
Independent, detail-oriented, team-worker.
Qualifications and Experience:

BS or MS (MS preferred) degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field plus minimum 2 years related experience.
Biometrics industry experience a plus.
