Ovid Technologies, a Wolters Kluwer, Inc company, is the global leader in online information services for hospitals and medical schools worldwide and is the primary online source for all Wolters Kluwer Health content. Through Ovid, researchers, clinicians, students and information managers can access hundreds of databases and more than 1,500 journals and books from dozens of publishers. Currently, the Medical Research group which is located in New York, NY is searching for a Senior Publisher Relations Specialist to join the team.

The Senior Publisher Relations Specialist (SPRS) will manage a wide ranging portfolio of relationships with Wolters Kluwer and third party publishers and other content creators to ensure retention of currently licensed content and acquisition of new content to meet Ovid’s strategic goals. The SPRS will also advance Ovid’s significant value proposition to information providers to develop beneficial relationships that support Wolters Kluwer Health’s growth and retention objectives.

Other responsibilities of the Senior Publisher Relations Specialist will include, but will not be limited to:

•Develop and implement a process for regular communication with content providers to heighten awareness of the value of Ovid as a business partner and distribution channel, identify new business and licensing opportunities, negotiate business terms, and provide required service and support.

•Provide regular information to content providers regarding key business metrics – e.g., royalties and usage statistics – that demonstrate benefits of their relationship with Ovid.

•Plan and execute a schedule of regular contacts with key content providers and arrange senior executive contacts as required, as well as plan and execute a consistent contract renewal process for all licensors.

•Promote the value of Ovid to prospective licensors and society publishers through the development and distribution of promotional materials, involvement in industry organizations and participation in industry meetings and events.

•Work closely with Product Management to identify and license new content in support of business objectives, secure appropriate business terms for existing and new content, and present new content opportunities generated by content providers

•Support the finance, product management, and pricing teams to plan and implement required contract compliance processes

•Work with Publisher Operations to develop and implement a process to obtain and load content in a timely manner and ensure timely and accurate dissemination of contract terms to all appropriate functional areas

•Responsible for regular reporting of relationship status, contract status, new content acquisition, at risk content and new opportunities.









A Successful Senior Publisher Relations Specialist will have:

•Bachelors Degree or equivalent of 5-7 years of experience
•Law degree (desired, but not required)
•Strong knowledge of the professional publishing industry
•Experience in managing complex relationships and business processes
•Proven negotiation skills
•Licensing and/or product management experience
•Quantitative analysis skills
•Excellent verbal and written communications
•Ability to use MS-Office suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint
•Travel is required, overnight and internationally, up to 20%
