PRODUCT MANAGER


 


 


Our client, a Fortune 1000 company, is a premier direct marketer & distributor of industrial supplies with 60 years of success. They offer more than 500,000 products from thousands of suppliers to hundreds of thousands of Customers. Due to growth, they are looking to add a new Product Manager to their team on Long Island.


 


 


 


 


DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:


 


 


 


Form and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers to identify and control costs, identify rebate opportunities, and act as the main point of contact for assigned suppliers


 


Manage all aspects of supplier operational performance.


 


Manage all acquisition costs and cost reduction efforts related to assigned suppliers


 


Support development of new products and maintain existing products in the line


 


Resolve quality assurance issues for assigned suppliers


 


Work with other groups to develop and implement tactical and strategic plans


 


Develop and manage annual supplier operational budgets


 


Develop and implement quarterly strategic/tactical plans to support budgeted goals


 


Implement merchandising strategies for multiple brands and product lines


 


Negotiates supplier agreements for new products


 


Evaluate pricing relative to competition and recommend pricing and presentation policies for product within designated product lines.


 


Execute corporate sales objectives for various product lines and create sales programs to meet objectives


 


Evaluate product offerings relative to competitors’ and make adjustments to ensure competitiveness


 


Manage the expansion of product lines and product line innovation


 


Ensure all product and product lines are presented clearly to the customer to maximize effect of advertising and minimize the need for further questions


 


Manages and creates, under guidance of management, merchandising and promotional initiatives to increase sales


 


 


 


 


Requirements:


 


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:


 


 


Bachelor's degree in Business or the equivalent is required


 


Minimum of three years of business experience are required


 


 


SKILLS:


 


 


Excellent mathematical and analytical skills


 


Strong negotiation skills


 


In depth knowledge of inventory management and the associated procurement costs


 


Knowledge and understanding of the procurement and inventory process and associated costs including inventory, logistics, acquisition costs, purchasing, and related accounting functions


 


Budget development and management skills


 


Excellent presentation skills


 


Computer literacy and proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software


 


Excellent oral and written communication skills
