Description Overall management of North American marketing, business development, legal strategies, fiscal management and long term strategic planning in the Endovascular Products market segment. This includes existing product improvement and new product development, marketing personnel management, and understanding and defining markets. Is accomplished by establishing individual goals and objectives for each product and marketing related associate within the division. Active involvement with all internal support functions to insure the smooth operation of the division. The expected results are to improve and set strategic direction, improve operational efficiencies and double sales revenues in five years.
1. Develop, plan, monitor, communicate and implement North American business growth strategies (short and long-term) with clearly defined goals, objectives, critical success factors, timelines, budgets and action items.
2. Oversee strategic and tactical North American marketing plans including forecasts, budgets, market research, situation analysis, product portfolio management, product positioning and elements of marketing mix (product, price, promotion and distribution) to create sustainable competitive advantage.
3. Participate in identifying, assessing and/or implementing strategic collaborations, product acquisitions, and/or joint business activities to achieve revenue targets and execute business and marketing strategies.
4. Oversee the management of existing and new relationships with key global industry leadership, both public and private sectors. Can translate networked relationships into business opportunities.
5. Participate in developing and implementing legal strategies and tactics to maximize the business segment’s strategic partnerships, revenue opportunities, competitive position or customer interaction including intellectual property portfolio, disputes, contracts and legal agreements.
6. Work with sales management to maximize revenue and execute marketing and sales strategies by evaluating distribution channel alternatives, adjusting marketing tactics based on distribution channel performance, and ensuring sales teams’ needs for sales support material and training are met.
7. Work with the National Accounts team to help develop and build alignment with our contracting strategies and to ensure provision of all support and collateral material needed to effectively drive contract utilization.
8. Insure R&D management has market-driven input (revenue potential and market characteristics) for product development strategies; coordinates with R&D management at a strategic level to prioritize products under development and manage product commercialization issues.
9. Manages and coordinates the business segment’s financial/fiscal operation, to include the development and administration of capital and operating budgets and expenditures, and the establishment and management of the business segments’ financial control
Position Requirements Requires independent judgment for managing multiple projects with time constraints. In addition, to the constant need to analyze a dynamic market and meet the needs of customers while continually striving to improve and introduce new company products, market penetration and profitability. Requires in-depth analysis and development of market strategies in a constantly changing environment. Requires the ability to make independent business decisions.
1. Ten or more years’ experience in Business Management, to include two or more years’ experience in a similar role in the life science market.
2. Proven entrepreneurial experience developing new business opportunities, new technologies or products and managing a business through various stages of growth.
3. In-depth understanding of the marketing functions including: strategic and tactical marketing, marketing communications, market research, product management, distribution channels, competitive intelligence, customer relationship management.
4. Demonstrated ability to successfully synthesize and implement strategic business and marketing plans to various complexities of product portfolios in excess of $25 million, a department budget of $5 million, and staff of >10.
5. Good knowledge and experience in working with and supporting a direct sales team of a thorough understanding of existing and emerging distribution channel options, and a proved understanding of how to employ them for competitive advantage.
6. Exceptional public speaking skills needed to represent the corporation at external meetings, conferences and organizational meetings. Able to present high level information for multiple audiences based on analysis and facts.
7. Executes sound judgment, analyzes issues, thinks strategically, creatively, and uses innovative ideas. Demonstrates exceptional problem solving, decision-making, conflict management, change management and negotiating skills.
8. Effectively develops trust, respect and cooperation across all areas of the organization and staff levels. Ability to measure organizational effectiveness, manages career development, create and manage cross-functional teams.
9. Demonstrated ability to work with and to provide direction and leadership for a Research and Development team.
10. Management and creation of new Strategic Partnerships.
11. Must have a Sound understanding of the GPO and IDN/IHN customer with a demonstrated command of the commensurate strategies and tactics associated with successful management of these channels.
12. Experience in working with and supporting a Business Development Department to include the ability to participate in the analysis and review of potential M&A and Licensing opportunities.
13. Good operational knowledge with a demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve organizational deficiencies and a proven track record of systems and process development.
14. Participates in project performance team meetings on behalf of the job unit in order to provide ideas, methods, or processes for unit/company performance improvement
15. Travels worldwide to obtain direct knowledge of internal and external opportunities and challenges
Educational Requirements MBA or equivalent required; undergrad degree in life science or work-related experience equivalent for understanding of scientific implications of the business
