Job Description
·Develop, revise, and implement personnel policies and procedures, while confirming compliance with legal regulations.
·Analyze wage and salary reports and data to ensure competitive compensation levels, and make recommendations accordingly.
·Coordinate and monitor integrity, consistency and equity of employee performance evaluation process.
·Research, negotiate, administer and advise all staff of employee benefit plans.
·Direct and provide guidance on recruitment, placement and retention efforts of employees.
·Oversee the development and maintenance of job descriptions consistent with FLSA categories and agency and departmental needs.
·Provide orientation for new employees and training updates, including sessions required by law, for management and staff.
·Conduct regular meetings with managers and staff to update them on personnel policies.
·Advise executive staff and managers regarding personnel concerns, employee relations and employment law.
·Mediate between staff in the resolution of employee issues and concerns, and help document all personnel issues.
·Maintain human resources information system and personnel records.
·Represent the agency in proceedings before regulatory agencies, e.g., U.S. and NYS Department of Labor, U.S. Equal Opportunity Commission and National Labor Relations Board.
·Maintain department budget
Additional Qualifications:
·Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree in related field preferred.
·At least 5+ years experience as a human resources generalist with 3 years in a supervisory role; prior experience in a non-profit environment preferred.
·Thorough understanding of working in a socially-responsible organization that serves multi-cultural populations.
·Extensive knowledge of applicable federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.
·Management style that ensures the adherence to policies and procedures while at the same time treating others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position.
·Strong customer service skills that extend to staff and management.
·Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, supervisory and presentation skills.
·Proficient computer skills including Windows, Excel, Word and HRIS
