SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Training Specialist is responsible for developing, managing, and conducting training and development programs for all site employees. This includes new employee orientation, job performance training, Standard Operating Procedure training as well as cGMP quality / compliance training and Environmental / Health / Safety with the ultimate goal to achieve overall regulatory compliance, job proficiency and personnel development and advancement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Coordinates training activities to include:
• Creating, communicating, and maintaining training calendar
• Using training database to maintain training records and track training
• Maintaining training resources and supplies
• Maintaining effective filing system
• May update electronic file systems
2. Develops tests and visual aids
3. Liaison with other functional / departmental managers so as to understand all necessary aspects and needs of staff training and development, and to ensure they are fully informed of staff training and development objectives, purposes, and achievements
4. Develops in-house programs and practices to identify developmental needs including preparing personnel for more responsible positions and increasing effectiveness to present assignments
5. Collaborates with others to develop curriculum that meets regulatory and business needs
6. Designs and administers in-house programs to train all levels of personnel
7. Types of training may include, but not be limited to:
• New Employee Orientation and onboarding
• OJT (Skill Blocks)
• Personal Development Training
• Safety Training such as fall protection, HAZMAT, HAZWOPER, and/or powered industrial trucks
• Permit Training
• Training required as a result of an audit, corrective action, incident investigation, or safety review
• Conducts job and task analyses to determine knowledge and skills requirements
8. Conducts and delivers training. Training methods may include, but not limited to, classroom training and electronic learning, which may involve interactive Internet-based training, multimedia programs, and other computer-aided instructional technologies, and videos
9. Keeps abreast of training and development research: learning theory, motivation theory, and new materials, methods, and techniques
10. May use and / or oversee contractors or vendors to develop and / or administer in-house training programs
11. Regularly evaluates both Training Program and Systems as all as Training Effectiveness (Levels 1 - 4)
12. Responds quickly and professionally to requests for training services
13. Other duties as assigned
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

Requirements Education required/ preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Adult Learning, or related
Experience: 5+ years experience as a training professional, preferably managing training programs in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Knowledge and/or experience with OSHA, FDA, and other federal regulatory agencies. Web page management or familiarity with web-based training.
Skills/Competencies: Excellent presentation, written and verbal skills. Knowledge and/or experience with Manufacturing and Process Technology. Knowledge and/or experience with Quality Assurance, Regulatory, and/or State/Federal compliance regulations. Required use of Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
