Since 2003, the corporate strategy department has been an integral part of the initiatives to anticipate rapid changes in the online publishing markets and accelerate growth throughout Wolters Kluwer worldwide. The group is lead by the SVP of Strategy, reporting directly to the CEO, and consists of one team based out of Brussels, Belgium and one team based out of New York.
This group is an integral part of the initiatives to anticipate rapid changes in publishing and professional software markets and accelerate growth throughout Wolters Kluwer.
In the corporate associate position, you will work on both strategic and operational issues in rapidly changing online and print environments in North America and also in Europe serving a variety of different professionals (e.g., lawyers, accountants, doc-tors, etc.) in multiple customer segments. The associate should be able to handle the in-depth analysis required in each project, as well as interact and present to senior management of the company. More specifically, you will undertake a wide range of tasks and responsibilities, including:
• Help drive our continuing shift to electronic media and tools
• Analyze market conditions and competitor developments
• Assist our local country and divisional CEOs, CFOs and COOs in enhancing their business
• Drive and implement key revenue growth as well as performance improvement initiatives
• Work with local teams on key strategic or operational efforts, following a strict project management discipline
• Work effectively in languages other than English
• Identify and evaluate internal and external opportunities
This position operates within a flat organization structure and reports directly to the Vice President of Strategy in New York.
Requirements:
BS degree from top tier school or equivalent required. MBA from top tier school or equivalent required.
1 to 3 years of consulting experience in strategy and operations at a premier strategy consulting firm or major corporation.
Must have ross-cultural work experience and language skills.
Must be a driven, results-oriented individual with a “can do” attitude who can translate unstructured business situations into structured initiatives and analyses.
Should have excellent written and oral communication skills.
Must possess strong interpersonal skills, be a team player and work well with/through executives at different levels in the organization.
In addition, one or more of the following skills/experience will be considered an impor-tant plus:
- Experience in electronic media and the communication/publishing industry
- Data manipulation and modeling skills
The work performed by the Corporate Strategy Group is spread amongst all of the divisions of Wolters Kluwer and across geographic markets. Willingness to travel is re-quired.
