We’ve recently launched The Daily Beast; *the* destination for smart news aggregation for busy people in a content-prolific world. We will continue to grow and evolve through agile development on an ongoing basis. The brand will be delivered through web, mobile, email, distributed content and syndication and will include text, video, audio and imagery.

 

We are seeking a Director of Business Development to join our team in New York. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing ways to monetize content, develop partnerships and drive traffic and revenue.  If you’re very interested in promoting, supporting, and growing a new brand within a start-up environment; then this is a great opportunity for you; where you’ll be responsible for the following areas:

• Identify and manage relationships with external content providers and syndicated content partnerships

• Develop and negotiate mutually beneficial relationships with marketing partners

• Build a business case and identify partners and sponsors for regular branded content events; including events with a global reach

• Conduct outreach to media organizations to strengthen the distribution network

• Generate new ideas related to product improvements and development that will help scale the business

• Follow up on leads and opportunities generated by the leadership team

Here’s what we’re looking for:

• You’ve got 5+ years’ similar experience in the digital media space, preferably in a consulting environment working with content businesses; or perhaps you just have a high “get-it” factor for the web, and have innovative ideas on how to build businesses

• You have experience developing relationships that reflect a brand’s assets and strategic intent

• You’re in tune with the latest trends in online news consumption

• You can manage projects with a lot of moving parts

• You're passionate and persuasive and able to work collaboratively with different personalities and work styles

• BA/BS required.
