DescriptionSUMMARY OF POSITION:
•The medical science liaison is a clinician trained healthcare professional.
•Responsible for tactically implementing Medical Affairs strategies.
•Collaborate with key clinician researchers, thought leader speakers, and corporate stakeholder groups.
•Provide insights and recommendations pertaining to medical thought leaders and clinical research trends/paradigms.
•Understand regional healthcare and business climate for appropriate medical tactics in order to deliver value.
•Professionally, effectively represent Medical Affairs organization when providing value to medical thought leaders and key stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•Complies with all OIG, ACCME, FDA and PhRMA guidelines/policies.
•Ensures that all activities and interactions comply with Covidien’s business policy and Medical Affairs operating practices.
•Establishes and maintains peer-to-peer relationships with Key Opinion Leaders.
•Supports Medical Affairs platform while carrying out the tactical execution of clinical education programs, medical information initiatives and investigator sponsored research proposals.
•Demonstrates clinical expertise and has a working knowledge of current medical treatments in Rheumatology and Pain therapeutic areas.
•Serves as a clinical resource for Covidien’s field sales organization, accurately answering any customer requested medical questions.
•Identifies new and strategic medical opportunities and customers that leads to impactful results in the region.
•Supports and ensures appropriate execution of clinical meetings (e.g. advisory boards).
•Works collaboratively across Specialty Pharmaceuticals & Imaging Solutions Sectors and shares best practices.
•Collaborates with Medical Affairs counterparts when identifying and communicating education/research needs.
•Acts as the go-between on investigator initiated trial proposals.

RequirementsEducation:
•Pharm.D., MD required

Experience:
•3-5 Years MSL or Pharma Industry-related experience.
•Clinical research insight, product development, and business and market knowledge.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
•Knowledge and experience in Rheumatology and Pain therapeutic areas.
•Previous pharmaceutical industry experience.
•Understanding of clinical practice and decision making regards to patient care.
•Ability to identify the unmet medical, educational, and research needs within the regional medical community.
•Interpretation of key scientific data and ability to translate this information to meet educational and research needs.
•Demonstrated ability to address educational and research needs through delivery of scientific/ evidenced-based medical data.
•Understanding of healthcare systems affecting patient care.
•Understand the design and execution of research studies.
•Exemplary communication of presentation skills.
•Ability to think strategically.

The Energy Expert Sales Representative is responsible for hitting their area sales plan through soliciting orders to sell the Company’s electrosurgical products, representing the Company in accordance with its policies, and maintaining an awareness of local competitive conditions and a territory business plan which enables attainment of the sales plan given local market conditions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Attains all assigned sales quotas.
• Maintains and increases sales volume of assigned accounts or territories.
• Solicits orders effectively from present and prospective customers for the assigned products.
• Provides useful and practical service to customers.
• Seeks new customers effectively, and formulates and follows plans for such action as directed by the Regional Sales Manager.
• Seeks new uses and applications for Company products with present and prospective customers.
• Assists present and prospective customers in adopting Company products to their own requirements and specifications.
• Authorizes "return" goods in accordance with Company policy.
• Adjusts customer complaints in accordance with Company policy, and advises sales management promptly of any situation beyond the Sales Representative’s scope of authority.
• Complies with all Company policies, instructions, and directives for the fulfillment of Company objectives and for the maximum profitable sales.
• Maintains awareness of competitive products and marketing practices, and keeps sales management informed concerning them.
• Prepares sales audits and analyses of present and prospective customers in accordance with Company procedures and instructions.
• Assists in developing sales forecasts, territory potentials, workload analyses, call programs, and routes.
• Maintains up-to-date customer record books and other records in accordance with Company instructions.
• Prepares and submits expense reports, sales, marketing, and consignment reports, and territory business plan as required.
Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY:
• Knowledge of the domestic electrosurgery, and Covidien’s products competing in these markets.
• Ability to solicit orders from present and prospective customers for the assigned products.
• Ability to prepare sales audits and analyses of present and prospective customers in accordance with Company procedures and instructions.
• Ability to assist in the developing of sales forecasts, territory potentials, workload analyses, call programs, and routes.
•Effective oral and written communication skills to meet sales objectives.
• Effective organizational and motivational skills necessary to perform related duties.

EDUCATION:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from an accredited university.

EXPERIENCE:
• Five (5) years successful sales experience, preferably in a medical device or OR sales capacity.

MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:
•Personal computer, personal digital assistant, telephone, copy machine, facsimile machine.
