Responsibilities: The Manager of Conference Finance manages conference financials including all aspects of IEEE Sponsored/Co-Sponsored Conference financials for Societies, Regions, Sections & Chapters in accordance with IEEE Policy (over 550 conferences, over $100M Revenue annually). The incumbent will oversee the conference financial operations of IEEE Conference Services budgeting, forecasting, actuals, accrual, VAT taxes, etc. He/she will ensure data integrity of IEEE conference financial information - budgets, final financials, approvals, loans & audits. This position will develop working knowledge of IEEEs Conference databases, policies and procedures, providing recommendations to revise existing processes and documentation (or create new) that will improve IEEEs internal control environment. He/she will coordinate and prepare financial content including policies, procedures, financial and other schedules for the web based Conference Organizers manual. This individual will prepare and present materials for IEEE Conference Committee and other workshops as well as interpret of policies for Society Officers and conference volunteers. He/she will serve as liaison to IEEE organizational unit financial staff and volunteers, providing assistance as needed for conference financial questions. This individual will research, innovate and propose metrics, analyses, tools or process changes to highlight and resolve issues and improve IEEE Conference Services operations. He/she will develop, prepare and disseminate/present (Excel, Powerpoint, Word, etc) strategic information including statistical reporting and analysis of IEEE Conference finances and related services, support programs and projects. This position will monitor IEEE Conference loans, surplus, and bank accounts along with managing monthly reconciliation of credit card processing transactions and conference administration/penalty fees. He/she will provide back up administrative support for IEEE Conferences Committee and special projects, AdHoc analysis, and team participation as requested by staff or committee members. This individual will coach, mentor and assist finance team in establishing a consistent level of quality, accuracy and compliance to departmental standards, governmental requirements and internal controls. He/she will continuously seek opportunities to work with Conference Line of Operations staff (Conferences, Publications, Business Administration, Computer Society, Communications Society, etc.) to alleviate redundancies and/or gaps in financial operations processes. Some travel may be required (less than 5%).
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Business/Finance related field. Masters Degree preferred. CPA and/or Auditing experience strongly preferred. 5-10 years budgeting, forcasting, audit and/or accounting experience. Prior managerial experience preferred. Excellent communication and organizational skills, ability to listen and communicate effectively in a clear, comprehensive and tactful manner both verbally and in writing. Ability to successfully prioritize and manage several projects simultaneously to completion, ability to build relationship and constructively interact with the team, internal IEEE departments and volunteers. Attention to detail and deadline. Ability to plan, execute and improve work processes to ensure business and compliance objectives are achieved. Work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to analyze compliance requirements, identify problems, design appropriate reporting solutions and solve the problems with moderate supervision. Strong, proven technical, analytical and problem solving skills. He/She must posses the ability to think freely and independently. Valid unexpired passport to travel internationally. Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
